There are many ways to convert color photos to black and white in Photoshop. But if you want to create a more dramatic black and white photo, Channel Mixer can be an option. To do this, click: Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Channel Mixer or directly access it using the adjustment layer button in the Layers panel. Once opened, check Monochrome in the dialog box. There are Red, Green, and Blue channels that you can move left and right until you find the best contrast to your liking.

Click Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Vibrance, lower the value to -60. Click the Layer mask thumbnail, then in the Properties panel, click Invert.
Zoom in and focus on the teeth. Make sure the foreground color is white. Next, select the soft Brush Tool (B) and brush only over the area of the teeth you want to whiten. If it's too white, you can adjust the Opacity to achieve the most realistic color possible.

This is just a simple trick for maximizing the use of Blend Modes in Photoshop. If you want to manipulate the colors in a photo, for example, clothes, t-shirts, hats, cars, etc., this method can be used.
Using the Lasso Tool or Pen Tool, create a selection over the object you want to change the color of. Fill it with your desired color. Or, you can also apply the color directly using the Brush Tool. The key is to change the Blend Mode to 'Hue' or 'Color'. Both will produce different color combinations. Choose the one you like best.
Creating a Retro-Themed Photo
Click Layer>New Fill Layer>Solid Color (or access it directly in the Layers panel) and fill it with a bright blue color. Change the blend mode to 'Exclusion' and lower the Opacity to 30% (or adjust to your preference).
